2024 AGM Gathering

You are warmly invited to The Growing Abundance Project’s 2024 AGM

Tuesday November 12th
6pm, Castlemaine Community House

The Growing Abundance Committee is excited to announce a partnership with Castlemaine Community House.

10 October, 2024

After much consideration about the future of Growing Abundance, the committee is currently working with Castlemaine Community House to ensure the future sustainability of the Harvest and associated programs.

The team at Growing Abundance feels there is alignment with Castlemaine Community House and its food and sustainability programs such as zero waste cooking, and preserving workshops, the Community Garden, Community Lunch and Foodlinks,

‘As a committee we are thrilled that through this partnership much of the governance and organisational support will be cared for by the Castlemaine Community House, which then enables our incredible volunteer base to continue to help Harvest and other programs to thrive,’ says Grace Nicol, Chairperson, Committee of Management, The Growing Abundance Project.

The Committee are very aware of the legacy of Growing Abundance that has developed over its 15 years of operations, and this was also recognised by Castlemaine Community House.

‘Castlemaine Community House is honoured to be approached to support the delivery of Harvest and the broader Growing Abundance programs, as part of our sustainability programming, and acknowledge how cherished and important this organisation has been to so many community members who have contributed and participated over the years,’ says Mahira Sobral, Executive Officer, Castlemaine Community House.

To support the transition and future program delivery, Growing Abundance as a program of Castlemaine Community House will have a working group in place. As a core group of volunteers, the working group will meet monthly to identify funding opportunities, partnerships, support promotion and program delivery. If you have interest in joining the working group please express your interest at the email address below.

This year’s AGM for the Growing Abundance Project will be held on Tuesday 12th November at 6pm at the Castlemaine Community House.

The following special resolutions will be moved:

  1. That the Growing Abundance Harvest Program be transferred to the Castlemaine Community House (CCH) to become a part of its suite of programs. This transfer will include the transfer of assets and into the future the management of the Harvest Program would sit under the jurisdiction of the Board of Management of the CCH.
  1. That the Growing Abundance Committee pass a special resolution to make an application for voluntary cancellation with Consumer Affairs Victoria.
  2. That the Growing Abundance Committee pass a special resolution to distribute any surplus assets to CCH.
  3. That the Growing Abundance Committee proceed with the rescinding of the Australian Charities Not for Profit Commission. A status of the group ensuring all outstanding liabilities are resolved.
  4. That the current committee will remain in place to oversee handover to CCH, therefore no elections will take place at this AGM. That elections that would be normally held as a part of the AGM be placed on hold to allow the current committee members the opportunity to work through the business of the transition of management of the Growing Abundance Project Inc to Castlemaine Community House.
