Nestled in the heart of Castlemaine is a unique demonstration food growing garden. The Hub Plot uses organic and permaculture principles and is there to inspire folk to grow their own food. Hub Plot volunteers meet each Monday morning to garden, swap vegetables, share gardening tips, plan workshops and generally have a good time in the garden.
Features of the Hub Plot include varieties of :
- worm farms
- composting methods
- wicking beds and other low water methods.
We also have chooks and a beehive.
The Hub Plot is a gathering place for meetings, workshops, sharing of skills and celebrations.
We’ve produced the following valuable resources:
- Grow What When in Castlemaine, a local planting guide, and,
- A manual on How to Make a Wicking Bed.
Feel free to pop in and have a look at what’s going on behind The Hub building through the green gates (cnr Barker & Templeton Sts). The Hub Plot is a working group of Growing Abundance.
If you’d like more information, or would like to join in, please drop by on a Monday morning from 9am. We always stop for a cuppa at 11am and everyone is welcome.
